- Beardsley Poster -
This was an assignment from my freshman year at Syracuse. The assignment was to create a poster advertising an
exhibit for an artist of our choice. The poster had to be done in the artist's style, but we could not copy an
already existing work. We had to create an entirely new image. I choose the illustrator Aubrey Beardsley.
I suppose I did a fairly good job on it, because I had it in the SU library one day and one of the librarians came up
to me and said that it looked like I like Aubrey Beardsley's work. And this was before any of the lettering was on it.
I wish I hadn't had to put lettering on it, because my lettering skills are not the strongest. The woman's scarf,
the man's jacket, and his cape all have very tiny different patterns on them. You can't see it here, but it comes
across really well in the actual piece, which is 20x30 inches. This piece was drawn on illustration board with ink in March of 2001.
