This is a portrait of Christiaan Huygens, a Dutch mathematician and physicist who studied the rings of Saturn
and discovered one of the planet's satellites. The image was done with pen and ink stippling, so the entire drawing
is made up of tons of little dots. It's a very time consuming method but the end product is usually very nice.
I was commissioned to make the picture for a planetarium show by JPL and NASA, so needless to say
this drawing is now their property. This picture was completed in October of 2002.
