Sketch Blog

New Year's is approaching, and in a sort of "let's see what I've been doing lately" type of search through various Photoshop files I stumbled across these. Some are sketches, some are the middle of projects, some are the beginnings of projects, and some are just things I totally forgot I had been working on. So it's sort of a random collection. I also moved a bunch of stuff into this month's archive, so just check over on the right if you're feeling behind.

Steve McQueen, done with pen and ink on Bristol board. Steve McQueen was so cool.

A doodle of Pippin that I started tonight with my Wacom tablet. I'll finish it later.

Pippin's my favorite hobbit :-)

I saw Return of the King last night. Much love to all who made that movie. I was not disappointed at all. Obviously, this is inspired by the movie. Just a quick sketch/painting with my tablet on top of a photograph I took of a sunset this summer. I'll be adding it over to Ithildin, too. Hopefully I'll have time to make lots of new drawings for over there now that I'm on winter break. I left all my paints at school though, so a lot of them will probably be painted digitally. At least there's no mess to clean up afterwards. ;-)

Some coloring progress. I didn't bother to show the whole image for this since that whole left side with the dress has absolutely no shading yet. Also, I posted a bunch of new wallpapers at Ithildin and two paintings at the portfolio.

I finished inking that drawing, so I can finally start coloring it. Sorry the image here is kinda small, but the actual drawing is on a piece of 11"x14" bristol board, so I had to make it kinda small to get it all to fit on here.

Part of a drawing that I started yesterday, which may or may not be used for a Christmas card.

I have four year old triplet cousins, and I thought it would be fun to make them coloring books for Christmas. Plus, it would give my aunt and uncle sine much needed free time during the holiday season if the girls had something to keep them busy for a little bit. Since it is for a coloring book, these drawings are supposed to be kept very plain and simple. I've basically just been doing a quick doodle here and there with my Wacom tablet when I get a few free minutes. Here's a couple of those. And all of the images from this November have now been archived.

I turned in my final painting today, so yay for that! Basically, with this painting I was trying to paint in a different style, ie. bigger brushstrokes, different color palette, less detailed. Cause I can get really picky with details. Also, I didn't have as much time to get this one done so trying this out for a different style was really beneficial. I don't remember the exact dimensions on this, and my aplogies for the flash and slight blur in the photo. I was in a hurry and didn't have time to be getting all Ansel Adams with the camera. Better pictures of this painting and the previous one that I posted in November will be coming eventually.
