01.30.03 Thursday @11:35 PM EST YAY! It's finally finished and I'm happy with it, so that's really all I have to say. It took way too long to color. I kept changing my mind about stuff. But it's done now so yay! So here it is, Eowyn overlooking Edoras. 01.27.03 Monday @10:02 PM EST This isn't too interesting, just the homework for the week for the illustration course I'm taking this semester. The teacher gave us all a copy of a photo of this guy and we had to use pencil on bristol board to re-create it. We couldn't use solids, only lines. It didn't take too long, only about an hour and a half, and that was with Robin Hood: Men In Tights playing on Comedy Central. I love that movie - so funny ;-) And for those wondering about the Eowyn drawing, it's still coming along. What can I say? I've been moving at turtle pace lately. Once I get that done I'll start uploading some drawings for 2003 into the portfolio. Oh, and hi to any of my CGR classmates who may be finding their way over here. 01.22.03 Wednesday @2:43 PM EST The Eowyn picture is moving along oh-so-slowly, mostly because I seem to have a short attention span lately. I'm trying to go more into detail with folds and ripples in the dress because that tends to be something I shy away from. I figure now is as good of a time to practice as any. And the background and frame are still flat colors, mostly because I'm still messing around with a few different looks that I want to try. Hopefully I'll get this picture done this week. I don't have classes tomorrow so I'm planning to get a lot of work done then. Maybe I'll get some more work done on the faerie picture, too. Oh, the archives over there on the right have been updated as well. 01.21.03 Tuesday @11:10 PM EST Arrr matey! I want to do a cool picture of a pirate, but just can't get it right. And I don't have much motivation at the moment. So here's a half-arsed pirate of the Caribbean. Now walk the plank or something like that. 01.20.03 Monday @12:49 AM EST Aren't you lucky! You get to see two new pictures today! Well, semi-new. This is where I am on that faerie drawing I started a while back. I still need to finish the leaves and clean up the border and change some of the lines from black to color. I can't decide if I like the background directly behind her or not, so comments and/or suggestions there would be helpful. Here's where I am so far on the Eowyn picture. I didn't work on it a whole lot yesterday. Basically just layed down all the flat colors. And I realized that I had forgotten to put in the bottom of the flagpole (oops!) so I added that in. Hopefully I'll get farther on both of these drawing today. 01.19.03 Sunday @12:11 AM EST I started sketching this while I was waiting for my laundry to finish earlier today. Then I picked it up again later while I was watching TV and I just kept going with it. I wanted to get some drawing done this weekend of pictures that I want to do before I start getting class assignments. So it took me a few hours, but I went on a drawing and inking binge and churned this out. For those who don't know, it's Eowyn standing over Edoras. It's definitely a take off from that scene in The Two Towers, but I'm not staying entirely true to their design. That'll probably show up more once I color it - and this is going to be hell to color if I make it look the way I want. I have a blast getting all intricate with the drawing, but I always wind up paying for it when it comes time to color. 01.18.03 Saturday @2:17 PM EST Nothing special, just some elf girl I doodled the other night. Pointy ears are fun. 01.11.03 Saturday @10:18 PM EST There's no specific explanation for this, other than I was bored so I broke out the markers. My only plan was to cover the whole piece of paper. Just doodles. Fun doodles though. And quite bright I realize, now that I've stepped back to look at it. 01.06.03 Monday @7:42 PM EST I missed working in this black and white style, so I decided it was time I do another one. I've been wanting to do some kind of Indiana Jones picture for a while, so I figured now was as good a time of any. It's nothing but pen and ink on bristol board. I used the box of my VHS copy of Raiders of the Lost Ark for reference. I have some iron on transfer paper so I might mess around with trying to put this on a t-shirt. Yay for Indy ;-) 01.01.03 Wednesday @11:28 PM EST Tada! First drawing of the new year. I wanted to try drawing in this block style after seeing some posters by Will Bradley. It's so much quicker to color something like this. I don't like the hand that's holding the branches. That whole arm is screwed up actually. Very bad. Her hair is fun though. Anyhow, this was just something to take for a test drive. | | |
