I started coloring that sketch that I posted on Wednesday. I really like how it's turning out, so I'll definitely be finishing it. If anything, it's good practice for coloring skin and hair.

Watercolor + thin sketchbook paper = mega-bad wrinkling. Note to self - next sketchbook should have thicker paper. Anyhow, these are mostly just doodles done in my sketchbook while I was waiting for larger watercolor stuff to dry in class. And yes, I know her umbrella looks all askew. Unfortunately, no one happened to have a parasol handy for me to look at, so I wound up with this poor visualization instead.

I've always been partial to floppy hair.

Indy! . . . and an elephant.
01.22.04 Thursday @10:20 PM EST
Just mucking around with pens and watercolor. There's also a new layout up at my portfolio.

Just some extremely rough character designs for a possible computer graphics project that I will be giving the proposal for tomorrow, er...today I guess.

I had some scraps of watercolor paper that I was messing around with yesterday. These were the only things that turned out semi-decent. I've never been too handy with watercolors, so I guess it's a good thing I'm taking an intro studio class in it this semester. Might as well learn how to use them correctly.

A colored version of that sketch from yesterday, which I will be using in a new portfolio design. All I did was draw overtop of my pencil sketch in Photoshop and used photo reference for the fish.

I played around a little with colors for that sketch from yesterday. And the second pencil sketch for today may possibly be used in a (much needed) new portfolio layout.

I was looking through some of Amano's character design work for older Final Fantasy games when I sketched this. If I get a chance I may mess around with coloring it.
01.13.04 Tuesday @4:46 PM EST
Some more pencil sketches done while I was being a TV bum.
01.12.04 Monday @5:33 PM EST
The first is a just a random sketch from my little sketchbook that tends to travel with me. The second is a pen and ink portrait of Cary Grant to go along with that series of old school Hollywood actors and actresses.
And to answer a question I received about what kind of pens and pencils I use - my pencils are usually just plain old no. 2 pencils. Nothing too fancy there, though I do prefer to use a kneaded eraser. My pens are micron black ink pens, ranging in point sizes from .005 up to .08.

First sketches of the New Year! These are just some random doodles from when I was watching TV tonight. I like drawing faces best. Helps me relax. Also, all drawings from December have been archived.
