I was bored on the airplane to NYC on Friday, so I decided that one of the models in the fashion magazine that teen sis was reading would look much more entertaining if she was wielding a sword.

This is my entry for the Darth Artsy Fan Art Contest that's being held for the 30th anniversary of A New Hope over on Live Journal. I so wanted to be Princess Leia when I was a little kid. She got to fight right along with the guys, helps to rescue her rescuers, and winds up with Han Solo in the end. Not a bad deal at all. This started out on watercolor paper with brown pencil and ink washes and was then digitally colored in Photoshop with my tablet.

A larger version of this can be seen right here in my DA gallery.

U2 is my all time favorite band. I've been wanting to make a new U2 picture for a while now, ever since I took a whole bunch of photos when I saw them in Buffalo in December of 2005. The title of this picture is "Bono Vox".

For those curious about the title of this picture, and if you were ever wondering where his nickname came from, here's an explanation. Bono's real name is Paul Hewson. When he was younger, he and his friends used to regularly pass a hearing aid store in Dublin called "Bonavox". His friend Gavin Friday started calling him Bono Vox, claiming that he sang loud enough for the deaf to hear him. Bono wasn't originally too crazy about his nickname, but when he found out that in Latin the phrase "Bono Vox" loosely translates to "good voice", he decided to keep the name. It went through a few evolutions - Bono Vox and Bono Vox of O'Connell Street - before it was finally shortened to Bono.

A larger version of this can be seen right here in my DA gallery. And prints of this picture are available right here from my print shop!

This was a commissioned drawing of a retired college mascot named Pioneer Pete.

Just some more sketches from the airplane. The first is of Tia Dalma from Pirates and the second is a kraken attacking a boat. I didn't have any reference to look at for these, so pardon the inaccuracies.

I had my sketchbook with me during a recent trip to Disney World, and I wound up doing some Pirates themed sketches on the airplane to entertain myself. I'll be posting a few more of these tomorrow.

This painting of Led Zeppelin's Jimmy Page and Robert Plant was made as a gift for my brother. He's a huge Led Zeppelin fan. It was painted with acrylic on illustration board, with some details done using colored pencils.

Prints of this are now available right here!
