I went to the Memorial Art Gallery recently and had luckily remembered to stick a small sketchbook in my purse. These two quick sketches are based on statues that were there. I would have liked to spend more time on some drawings while I was there, but several grade school groups were on tours that day and I kept feeling like I was getting in their way.

I did a Han Solo fan art, so I thought it was only fitting (especially with the final Star Wars movie coming out) that I do one of my other favorite Star Wars character, Obi-Wan Kenobi. Though as you have probably guessed from this progress sketch, this is going to be another goofy fan art piece. The body language is too stiff and generally totally wrong, but I'll fix that tomorrow.

I do love a handsome profile. Anyways, I felt like drawing something fun to look at while I was watching TV tonight. This was done using a cologne advertisement from a magazine for the model.

More designs for Beast, this time venturing into some costumes and things. I'm pretty certain that I'm going to stick with the design for his head and facial structure that I showed in the last post because I think I'll be able to successfully depict a range of emotions with it. These sketches were all done with my tablet in Photoshop. I find it easiest to do concept type work digitally because it's so easy to go back and make changes as needed.

Okay, so I think I finally figured out how I want the Beast's face to look. Now I just have to decide on the rest of his character design.

Here are some more character design pieces for my Beauty & the Beast project. The first of these two sketches is much closer to where I want to be in terms of the design, but it's still not quite there yet. The whole mouth and jaw area still needs to be re-worked.
