I loved the story of Peter Pan when I first saw the Disney movie as a kid. It was one of the first movies that made me want to go and read the book that the movie was based on. I borrowed it from my school's library in the 2nd grade and I proceeded to tear through the adventures of Peter and the Lost Boys. I imagined that the woods behind my house were part of Neverland. I wanted to go on adventures with Peter and his gang and to fight pirates and to have a secret hide out in the woods. The cartoon that was on TV when I was eight years old only fueled this enthusiasm. Recently I heard about the live action film that's coming out this Christmas and it set me to thinking again about how much I love this story. I'd like to try and do some high quality drawings about it, so while I was watching TV tonight I did a sketch of how I always thought Peter looked like. The anatomy is all wonky, but it's only a study for a future completed drawing. I do really like his face though. I think I got the look I was going for.

Some sketches from while I was home this weekend. The first is a seahorse creature and the second is a feathery fairy.

Just a sketch I did yesterday while I was at the student center doing laundry. This is an original character of mine who has gone through many different looks. This just happens to be his most recent.

An in progress witchy drawing, all done with my Wacom tablet which I love more every time I use it. There's still a lot that needs to be done, but I wanted to start a Halloween themed drawing. October's coming up, you know.

Here's another ink drawing for that old stars of Hollywood thing I mentioned before. I based this drawing of James Dean off of a photograph from Roy Schatt's Torn Sweater Series.

These are some character designs I was playing around with for an animation that I'm going to be working on all semester in my computer graphics class. The animation will be done in Lightwave, so it will be 3-D modeled, and involves playing cards, but I don't want to give away too many details. When I finish the animation at the end of the semester I'll be posting it online at the portfolio, so you'll see what it's all about then. But until then, here are the King and Queen of Hearts, though I think the Queen of Hearts may be changed to the Queen of Spades due to some slight plot modifications. Also, all drawings from August have now been archived.

I've missed working in that black and white style with ink that I love so much. In order to remedy that, I've decided to do a series of portraits on some of the legendary old school actors and actresses of the silver screen. The iconic Marilyn Monroe is the most recent one I've done. Drawings of Audrey Hepburn and Gregory Peck can be found in my portfolio. Some of the other people that I know I definitely want to include in this are Vivien Leigh, James Dean, Jimmy Stewart, Katherine Hepburn, Ingrid Bergman, Humphrey Bogart, and who knows who else I may wind up drawing? Anyways, those are just some possiblities. I think it will be one of my on-going non-school projects this semester.

I was playing with my Wacom tablet and was able to turn out a semi-decent sketch of Aragorn while I was watching my Two Towers DVD - which finally came in the mail. I was looking at one of the stills from TTT while I drew this. I'll probably be adding this picture over at Ithildin. I heart my Wacom tablet. :-D
